Genet Amare is a senior solicitor at Creighton & Partners specialising in public and
private children law. A Legal 500 Recommended Lawyer and member of the Law
Society’s Children Law Accreditation Scheme, she is primarily instructed by
Children’s Guardians and also represents parents, separately represented young
people and extended family members in complex cases, including non-accidental
injuries, child sexual exploitation, physical abuse, sexual abuse allegations,
deprivation of liberty and secure accommodation orders, as well as matters involving
linked criminal proceedings.
Genet has a particular passion for working with teenagers and is widely recognised
for her ability to build trust and communicate effectively with older children in
challenging family situations. Previously Director at a leading national legal aid firm,
she offers significant experience in advocacy, supervision and strategic leadership.
Committed to access to justice and pro bono work, Genet has led community legal
surgeries for many years and, during the pandemic, founded and ran a domestic
abuse helpline. Her contribution following the Grenfell Tower fire and Phase 1 of the
Inquiry reflect her dedication to social justice and survivor-led advocacy.
